About Julia
Julia Heyward is a senior associate in our workplace advisory practice in Melbourne. She works with public and private companies, founder-led businesses and not-for profit organisations across various sectors, including financial services, retail, hospitality, health and technology.
Julia advises in a diverse range of employment matters, including advising on contractual and incentive arrangements, post-employment restraints, restructures, employment matters in commercial transactions and litigation and dispute resolution.
Julia joined the firm in 2019 and was admitted to practice in 2021. Julia holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Monash University.

Julia’s practice spans advisory and litigation work, and includes:

Julia’s recent experience includes advising:
- An ASX listed company on the employment aspects of a merger
- A private company in the services industry: managing large scale and historical underpayments and industrial disputes
- A national retailer: in relation to various employment disputes, preparation of contracts of employment, policies and procedures
- A not-for-profit land council: in relation to a wholesale employment and workplace review, strategic workplace planning and change management
- A not-for-profit on the dismissal of its CEO
- A national retailer on complex executive incentive arrangements
- In relation to complex employment matters within the family office environment
- In relation to tribunal and Court level discrimination claims
