Mount Scopus Memorial College, one of Melbourne's leading Jewish schools, has announced a major development with the acquisition of an option to purchase land (valued at $195 million) at Caulfield Racecourse from the Melbourne Racing Club.

The land is earmarked for the relocation of its campus and will provide students with a state-of-the-art learning environment for students from early learning to year 12. The 7.5-hectare parcel of land is a similar size to the school’s main campus in Burwood and will bring together its three existing campuses along with a new Centre for Jewish Life for the broader Jewish community. The new campus will provide students with access to a wide range of facilities, including modern classrooms, specialist learning spaces, sporting facilities, and landscaped courtyards.

Arnold Bloch Leibler advised Mount Scopus on all aspects of the transaction. The ABL Property & Development team (led by partner Dorian Henneron with assistance from lawyer Tamsen Kempster and law graduate Lana Silber, together with specialist planning advice provided by senior associate Lucy Eastoe) advised Mount Scopus on all aspects of the property transaction. Commercial partners, Joey Borensztajn and Jeremy Lanzer, provided strategic structuring and corporate advice on the transaction.

Dorian Henneron commented: “This is a landmark transaction for Mount Scopus, including in what it represents for the future of the school and broader community, and we are proud to have been involved. We are certain that the new campus will be at the forefront in providing educational excellence and community connection.”
