Senior Associate Jonathan Ortner has made the finals in the tax category of this year’s Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards.

The Awards recognise young lawyers striving for professional excellence within their specific practice areas.

There was little doubt Jonathan fit the bill.

In the last 12 months, he has achieved a number of career milestones, including being awarded Emerging Tax Star by the Tax Institute of Australia and being appointed a member of two of the Tax Institute’s technical committees, focused on GST and SMEs.

The nomination highlighted Jonathan’s role in the team ABL assembled for the Arrium matter, as well as his exceptional work with private clients.

In supporting Jonathan’s nomination, Senior Partner Mark Leibler said: “Working closely with our Sydney head of tax, Clint Harding, Jonathan has been an integral part of the success and growth of the practice.

“He has a wide range of expertise, being able to switch from advising on a multi-billion dollar commercial transaction to working on a dispute with the ATO and advising high net worth clients on voluntary disclosures.”

Jonathan’s recognition follows Tax Partner Clint Hardings recent achievement, being named the Tax Institute’s Corporate Tax Adviser of the Year.

The Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 recognises excellence among up and coming lawyers, showcasing their talents through professional performance, leadership capabilities and the ability to influence client experience. The winners will be announced at a cocktail awards evening on Friday, 18 May at the Hyatt Regency, Sydney.
