Arnold Bloch Leibler’s Melbourne office held our annual Women in Litigation networking evening on 21 July 2026.
Welcoming guests to ABL, special counsel Elly Bishop described the event as an opportunity to celebrate women in litigation, promote equitable briefing and foster new connections between ABL lawyers and female barristers, particularly those who had been called to the Bar more recently.
We were privileged to have the Honourable Justice Michelle Gordon AC of the High Court of Australia join us at the event. In introducing her Honour, Elly referred to Justice Gordon’s dedication to supporting and mentoring junior practitioners and actively encouraging diversity in legal practice.
Justice Gordon spoke about the importance of equitable briefing, discussed practical measures for encouraging equitable briefing which had been shared with her Honour by female barristers at the Victorian Bar, and offered words of encouragement to the barristers and aspiring barristers in the room.
