About Max

Max Griffin is a Senior Associate in Arnold Bloch Leibler's Dispute Resolution & Litigation practice group in Melbourne.

Max has experience acting for individuals and companies in a range of matters in the Supreme Courts of Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia and the Federal Court of Australia including general commercial disputes, regulatory investigations and class actions. Max also maintains a practice acting for various pro bono clients in wills and estates disputes and litigation and co-chairs the ABL Indigenous Solidarity Network.

Max holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from Monash University, as well as a Master of Law from the University of Cambridge.

Max joined the firm as a graduate in 2020 and was admitted to practice in 2021. He was appointed a senior associate in July 2025.

Dispute resolution & litigation

  • Property developer: defending a proceeding commenced by a former shareholder in the Supreme Court of Victoria in relation to a $600m development
  • Property development and construction company: in relation to a contractual dispute with a multinational property developer
  • Clothing company: in relation to disputes with international distributors in the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, including in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria, the County Court of Victoria and the Central District Court of California
  • Property investment fund manager: in relation to a dispute with a unitholder
  • Registered Training Organisation: in relation to a dispute with a shareholder and former employee
  • Partner of a corporate advisory firm: in relation to a partnership dispute, and

Probate and estates disputes

Class actions

  • Former director of a company running a managed investment scheme: defending a class action commenced by investors in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and
  • Heritage Care Pty Ltd: defending a class action brought on behalf of certain residents of the Epping Gardens aged care facility, and their family members, in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Insolvency litigation

  • Former director of private company: defending an insolvent trading proceeding commenced by a liquidator.
