About Grace

Grace Cho is a senior associate in the firm's property & development practice. She has advised clients in a broad range of real estate matters, including disposals, acquisitions, co-ownership agreements, property trust structures, investment management and asset management matters, fund-through developments and leasing transactions.

Grace has acted for many of Australia's leading institutional and private real estate developers and investors and large corporate tenants.

Grace's professional legal experience includes five years of practising property law in a leading national law firm in both Melbourne and Sydney. In 2018, she moved into an in-house counsel role in an ASX-listed property and investments group. Grace returned to private practice as a senior associate at the firm in February 2022.

Practice focus

Grace’s practice focuses on the following areas:

  • capital transactions for office, industrial, mixed-use and retail properties, including property due diligence
  • office and industrial leasing transactions; and
  • fund-through development projects.

Experience

Grace has acted in a broad range of matters, including:

  • TMG Developments: in relation to the sale of:
    • the Hotel Lindrum to real estate developer Time and Place
    • the Harbour Rocks Hotel in Sydney
  • IP Generation: in relation to the acquisition of:
    • a 50% interest in Scentre Group managed Helensvale Shopping Centre in QLD for $185m
    • a 50% interest in Vicinity managed Rockingham Shopping Centre in WA for $180m
    • a 100% interest in Craigieburn Shopping Centre from Lendlease for $300m
  • Charter Hall: in relation to the:
    • acquisition of 155 Airds Road, Minto, NSW for redevelopment into a logistics hub
    • sale of Brickworks Marketplace in SA
  • Intrapac: in relation to the acquisition of 126 ha of residential development land in Terranora, NSW
  • EK Nominees: regarding the acquisition of development land as part of St Ives Shopping Centre in Sydney’s North Shore

Prior to joining ABL, Grace advised on:

  • All aspects as investment manager of National Pension Service of Korea's 100% investment in Melbourne Quarter Tower, part of the $3 billion Melbourne Quarter precinct developed by Lendlease and with Medibank as the anchor tenant
  • Sale of office building 66 Eagle Street, Brisbane by Lendlease managed fund Australian Prime Property Commercial Fund to Deka for $380m
  • Australia-first $20m renewable energy program for Lendlease managed fund Australian Prime Property Fund Industrial, partnering with Solar Bay to implement solar renewable energy across the portfolio of assets delivering value to tenants through power purchase agreements
  • All aspects of the acquisition and development of industrial assets for Lendlease managed Australian Prime Property Fund Industrial, 45 Boom Street, Gnangara in WA and 25 Holbeche Road, Arndell Park in NSW
  • Global investment bank’s $200m land swap arrangement for the sale of Pittwater Place Shopping Centre in Sydney and the acquisition of office building 555 Lonsdale Street in Melbourne
  • Registered club in respect of granting development rights to surplus land at Canterbury Park Racecourse to an ASX-listed property developer
  • Municipal council in respect of an agreement for lease to a rugby club of a new sporting facility to be developed at Heffron Park, Sydney
  • ASX-listed property developer’s $310m acquisition of Birkenhead Point Shopping Centre, Sydney
  • ASX-listed property developer’s $72m acquisition of office building 477 Collins Street, Melbourne
  • National telecommunication corporation’s agreement for lease for its ACT head office at 16-18 Mort Street, Canberra
  • Private property developer in respect of its development of registered club land in Roseville, Sydney into multi level residential dwellings and new club premises
  • Private property developer in respect of its acquisition of multiple residential lots in collaboration with Land and Housing Corporation to develop multi-level residential housing including social housing in Lane Cove, Sydney
