At last week’s Annual General Meeting of the Collingwood Football Club, partner Joey Borensztajn was presented with a prestigious special services award for his work in support of the Collingwood Football Club Foundation. The club’s media release described Joey as a significant contributor to Collingwood’s philanthropic mission.
“Borensztajn helped establish the CFC Foundation in 2010 and has been a member of the foundation board since, with his expertise critical to the establishment of the Magpie Nest homelessness project, the Collingwood Community Centre at Victoria Park and many other significant community initiatives.”
In accepting the award, Joey said that serving on the board had helped him to experience and understand first-hand the organisation’s tremendous achievements in providing support and funding for programs that make a tangible and lasting difference in people’s lives.
These include: the Magpie Nest programs which provide homeless and other disadvantaged people affordable housing and a platform to build their confidence, work experience and community networks; and the Barrawarn Program which empowers Indigenous Australians through employment and educational opportunities.
