Arnold Bloch Leibler has acted for cosmetics and beauty giant MECCA Brands (MECCA) in the negotiation of its lease for its new flagship store in Melbourne’s Bourke Street mall.

As reported by Commercial Real Estate, the new store is set to become one of the largest beauty retail spaces in the southern hemisphere.

Property & Development partner Gia Cari and senior associate Rob Deev advised MECCA on all aspects of the lease agreement.

Gia Cari said: “Congratulations to MECCA and the team on securing its new flagship store in the iconic and historically significant building in Bourke Street. We wish the team all the best and look forward to the opening of MECCA’s store.”

MECCA founder and co-chief executive Jo Horgan told Commercial Real Estate the company had a vision to create “the world’s most extraordinary, innovative and loved experiential retail destination”.

“We want to put the joy back into shopping and see our Melbourne flagship as an opportunity for us to continue to innovate, try new things and really raise the bar, again and again!”

The store is set to open in 2023 and will offer a range of masterclasses, pop-ups, product launches and sell more than 200 beauty brands from around the world.

MECCA was founded in Melbourne in 1996 and currently has 107 stores across Australia and New Zealand.
