Humm investor requests share register; proxy battle on horizon

Arnold Bloch Leibler partner Jeremy Leibler has been referenced in AFR’s Street Talk following rumours of trouble brewing in financial services company Latitude’s bid to acquire Humm Group’s consumer finance business.

As covered in Street Talk, Humm director and major shareholder Andrew Abercrombie has requisitioned a copy of Humm’s share register in anticipation of the release of a booklet pitching the prospective deal – whether Humm should divest or retain its consumer finance arm - to shareholders. Citing sources close to Humm, Street Talk reports that “Abercrombie’s requisition was signed by law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler and renowned partner Jeremy Leibler.”

The move has set the cat among the pigeons at Humm, and among its advisers Flagstaff Partners and MinterEllison, fearing it may be the start of a proxy fight and an attempt to block the transaction at the shareholder vote.”
