New data released this week by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) places Arnold Bloch Leibler among the top 10 law firms in closing the gender pay gap.

The gender pay gap is the difference in the average earnings between women and men in the workforce, with the median gender pay gap reflecting the difference between the mid-point paid to men and women employees, regardless of role or level.

For the 2024–25 reporting year, ABL’s median total remuneration gender pay gap was 4.5%, unchanged from 2023–24. The Legal Services Industry Comparison Group reported a 9.2% gender pay gap for the same period.

As reported in Lawyers Weekly, of the 90 law firms that reported to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, just under three-quarters had a total remuneration gap higher than the national average of 11.2 per cent. When compared to the 2023–24 reporting period, 39 per cent had a worse gap, with some increasing between 5.2 and 12.3 percentage points.

Quoted in Lawyers Weekly, ABL’s Director of Human Resources, Shaneen Argall, said the firm was proud of its results, having been deliberate in ensuring equitable remuneration and support for its female lawyers.

“Ongoing focus and accountability remain essential as we collectively strive to close the gender pay gap across the profession,” she said.
