Birrarangga Film Festival

Birrarangga new

With Film Victoria and Creative Victoria as its major sponsors, and in partnership with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Typecast Entertainment produced the inaugural biannual Birrarangga Film Festival 2019.

The Festival is a celebration of Indigenous filmmakers from across the globe, showcasing their unique stories in both long and short form and VR. In previous festivals more than 80 inspiring and heartbreaking feature length and short films were screened, showcasing filmmakers from Australia, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Mexico, Russia, Greenland and Peru.

The Festival is also a celebration of tomorrow’s Australian Indigenous filmmakers, providing them with opportunities to pitch to and connect with some of the most respected and established film industry leaders in Australia.

Birrarangga was introduced to the firm by longstanding Arnold Bloch Leibler clients and friends Ron Merkel and Beth Charles. In recent times, the firm has helped Birrarangga to secure tax concessions, as the next critical step for its growth, and we will continue to support all aspects of the Festival, as its honorary lawyers.
