About Ben

Ben is a senior associate in our property & development practice in Sydney.

He advises on all aspects of property matters, with extensive experience in acquisitions and disposals, developments, joint ventures and leasing.

Ben has a client-centric approach focused on understanding, and then delivering on, his client’s commercial objectives. He has acted for Australia’s leading property groups, private investors and developers and international investment funds.

Practice focus

Ben's practice focuses on the following areas:

  • acquisitions and disposals of all types of commercial property
  • developments and joint ventures
  • commercial leasing for both landlords and tenants, and
  • property management.

Experience

Ben has extensive experience acting on a range of significant transactions, including:

Commercial projects

Prior to joining ABL, Ben acted for:

  • Dexus: on its acquisition of a 50% interest in Rialto Towers, Melbourne and associated co-ownership and property management arrangements
  • Australian developer: in relation to the subdivision, state significant development and off-the-plan sale of a 344 ha parcel of land within the Western Sydney Aerotropolis
  • Inmark: on the sale of 1 Woolworths Way, Bella Vista, which set a national record for the highest price paid for a suburban office building
  • Alkane Resources: in relation to the Tomingley Gold Extension Project, and
  • Live Nation: on the acquisition and disposal of entertainment venues.

Residential and mixed-use projects

Prior to joining ABL, Ben acted for:

  • Bilbergia: on a project delivery agreement with Land and Housing Corporation involving the development of social housing units (for the landowner to retain) and regular units (to sell off-the-plan)
  • Penrith City Council: in relation to a joint venture redevelopment for an integrated aged care and retirement village consisting of 150 units, and
  • Various private developers: in relation to joint venture residential developments.

Leasing

Prior to joining ABL, Ben acted for:

  • AMP: on the pre-commitment leasing of Quay Quarter Tower, Sydney
  • Frasers: on the leasing of various industrial properties across Australia, and
  • AEW: on the leasing of its office portfolio.
