The Australian domain authority, auDA, is in the process of rolling out a new domain namespace, “.au”. If you hold an existing Australian domain ending .au (for example, “.com.au”, “org.au” or “.net.au”) which was registered prior to 24 March 2022, you are currently eligible for priority access to the corresponding .au domain (for example, "abl.au").

In our previous bulletin, we outlined the information to be aware of in preparation of the new roll out. The priority access period for the new domain namespace will end on 20 September 2022. If you do not register the .au domain which corresponds to your existing domain before that date, it will become publicly available.

To ensure that your brand is protected, our team highly recommend registering your .au domain before the priority period ends. Your domain registrar will be able to assist you to secure a .au domain registration.

If you believe someone inappropriately registered your .au domain, please contact our team below and we can advise you on the steps to attempt recovery to protect your brand.
