Paul Sokolowski takes out Tax Partner of the Year

Arnold Bloch Leibler Tax partner Paul Sokolowski has been named Taxation Partner of the Year in the prestigious 2018 Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year awards.

Paul has been a Partner of ABL since 2001 and leads the firm’s Tax practice.  He advises a range of clients, including high-net-worth individuals, large private groups, public entities and not-for-profits. In 2017, Paul led significant and complex tax audit matters concerning international and domestic transactions, was involved in litigation in the High Court and Federal Court on substantive tax issues and the Tax Office’s administrative powers, and made representations to, and appearances before, the Tax Office’s General Anti-avoidance Rules Panel on Part IVA issues. Paul also led the team advising on the taxation aspects of the above CrownBet matter, and other transactions.

In his acceptance speech, Paul congratulated the other finalists, thanked his mentor and Senior Partner, Mark Leibler AC, his partners and colleagues at ABL and, especially, the ABL tax team.

ABL Private and Corporate Partner, Christine Fleer, was also a finalist in the Commercial category.  

This award rounds off a stellar year for ABL’s tax team with Sydney Partner Clint Harding named The Tax Institute of Australia’s ‘Corporate Tax Adviser of the Year’ and Senior Associate Jonathan Ortner named a finalist in the tax category of the 2018 Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards.
