Arnold Bloch Leibler (ABL) has advised the Caras family on the sale of the Punthill Apartment Hotels business to Sydney based boutique hotel operator, Veriu.

The ABL team advised on all legal commercial, employment and property aspects of the sale. ABL Corporate Partner Jonathan Wenig led the transaction with Property Partner Tyrone McCarthy, supported by Senior Associate Rebecca Zwier and lawyers Justin Hansky and Rob Deev. Workplace Advisory Special Counsel Bridget Little and Senior Associate Rachel Soh advised on the multifaceted employment issues that arose throughout the transaction.

Jonathan Wenig commented: “It was a complex transaction that represented the culmination of 30 years of business building by our clients – and it was tremendously satisfying to achieve this outcome.”

ABL is renowned for advising private clients on major transactions, including within the hotel sector. In addition to the Punthill Apartment Hotels transaction, our team has recently advised the Trawalla Group, a private investment group for the Schwartz family, in relation to the landmark Parliament Square site in Hobart, which includes plans to redesign several heritage buildings in Parliament Square into a luxury hotel, operated under an agreement with the Marriott International-branded The Luxury Collection hotel.
