Kaitilin, who is a Melbourne-based member of ABL’s tax team, was the youngest candidate to be shortlisted in the ‘SME Tax Adviser of the Year’ category at the 2017 Tax Institute Awards.
In her Women in Tax profile piece, she tells the Institute that she finds the “very pure application of the law” exciting and that every day is different: “One aspect of tax and tax reform is that it is always very high on the political agenda. So it’s always in the newspapers.”

She also speaks about the flexibility of her role, which allows her to pursue her other passion: surfing. With a long commute, Kaitilin works in the office four days a week with one day at home: “That’s the right balance for me... I also maximise the commuting time. It offers a really good opportunity to draft longer documents and keep up-to-date on the latest tax developments.”
Kaitilin says the firm has a supportive culture which promotes diversity at work: “I’ve really benefited from the partners’ unwavering support and encouragement. It’s enabled me to successfully navigate any challenges.”
The Women in Tax website was launched to support the progression of women in the tax, legal and accounting professions. It features “profiles of tax practitioners who have done extraordinary things”.
